Only thing wrong with that car is the steering wheel looks like it came out of Mercury Topaz.

It has cocaine intakes!

Please tell me you’re joking. It looks like it could actually be true and I know the Vantage gets shat on for being a tarted up English Mustang, but please tell me that you’re joking. I don’t want to live in a world where a 1/2 million dollar super car’s steering wheel could be sourced from a junkyard in Brandywine, MD.

Nope, not a joke. That steering wheel is the same corporate Ford wheel found in their common passenger vehicles from that time period.

This is still one of my favorite Astons, despite its many glaring faults.

I’d say that’s an easy enough fix without doing anything irreversible .

JFC, I hate it here. And when I say “here”, I mean this planet.

The only possible way for me to deal with this information is to buy a Mustang and put a Vantage badge on the steering wheel.

Lol! Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
I can understand raiding the parts bin for electrical stuff or even visible things like switches and knobs, door handles, etc b ut man, I can’t believe Aston couldn’t come up with anything else for the steering wheel of all things in that car.
Of all its faults and disappointments, the steering wheel IMO is its greatest offense.

Yeah, sorry, astons of that vintage have some corporate parts bin stuff from Ford. The steering wheel is the worst offender, but not the only

Yeah, especially one that is instantly recognizable too.
So lazy, so trifling, so pennywise and pound foolish. Because if it didn’t have that stee ring wheel in it I would stroke a check for that car right now. [Harumph]

Y’all really seem to be enjoying my distress over this steering wheel.

GIVE GIVE GIVE! The V600 LeMans is one of my top tier dream cars.

Parts sharing/off the shelf parts were , and still are , quite common. Aston wasn’t owned by Ford back then so when you saw it, it was obvious. Think of it like a TVR or a Morgan — it’s just cheaper to get quality parts from major manufactures when you have a low volume luxury/nichè brand. I guess it’s just no big deal to us.
Just like it's no big deal that the Lamborghini Diablo uses Nissan 300zx headlamps.

Parts sharing can be, and often is, good smart engineering. Because, w hy re-invent the wheel? I get it, I steal and plagiarize ideas all the time at work.
If I’m buying an Aston Martin (and this a threat AM should take VERY seriously) I do not want to look over at someone’s hoopty and see my steering wheel in their car.
